About this activity

Take part in one of Cambodia's most respected spiritual traditions. At one of the oldest monasteries outside Siem Reap, resident monks give you a sacred water blessing, a ritual believed to bring protection, purification and good fortune.

Afterwards your English-speaking cultural guide walks you through a nearby village to meet local families and see everyday life in the countryside. Entrance fees and a donation to the monks are included.

A drive through the countryside brings you to one of the oldest monasteries near Siem Reap. Your guide explains the ritual and the etiquette for entering, then the resident monks perform a traditional Cambodian water blessing for your group.

Monastery grounds and village walk

Walk around the pagoda complex as your guide tells stories of the Buddha's life and the part monasteries play in village life. Then continue to a nearby village for a gentle walk, meeting local people and learning about farming, traditional wooden houses and daily customs, before returning to your hotel.
