Visas and entry
What most visitors need, what to have ready, and where the official answer lives
Why there are no fees on this page
Visa fees and entry rules change, and the figures published around the web disagree with each other. Getting one wrong can cost somebody a flight, so this page explains how the system works and sends you to the government for the numbers. If you are travelling with us, ask your planner and we will confirm the current position for your nationality.
The two ways in
Not every land crossing accepts a visa on arrival or an e-Visa, and the list of which do changes. If you are crossing overland — from Vietnam, Thailand or Laos — check the specific crossing before you commit to it, or tell us and we will check it for you.
Who does not need one, and who needs one in advance
Citizens of most ASEAN countries — Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam among them — enter without a visa for a limited stay. A small number of nationalities cannot get a visa on arrival at all and must arrange one in advance through a Cambodian embassy.
Both of those lists change, and neither is worth trusting from a travel website. Check your own nationality against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before you book a flight.
Have these ready
On arrival
Cambodia now asks arriving travellers to complete an e-Arrival card online shortly before landing — immigration, customs and health in one form. Do it before you get on the plane; the airport wifi is not something to rely on.
Overstaying
Overstaying carries a fine for every day beyond your visa, payable on departure, and a long enough overstay can mean deportation. Count the days carefully — the day you arrive counts.
Extending your stay
A tourist visa can normally be extended once. Staying longer, working, retiring or studying means a different class of visa altogether, and that is a different process — talk to us about it.
Angkor tickets are separate
Your visa lets you into the country; the Angkor Archaeological Park has its own pass, bought at the official ticket centre or online. Your guide will handle the logistics.
We can do it for you
If you are booking a tour with us we will handle the visa application as part of it: we tell you exactly what to send, submit it, and confirm approval before you fly. The visa fee itself is charged at cost and is never included in a tour price.
The official sources
These are the only places worth trusting for fees, eligibility and current rules. Everything else, this page included, is a summary that can go out of date.
Let us handle the paperwork
We arrange visas for the travellers we take. Tell us your nationality and dates and we will confirm exactly what you need.
