What we do with your information, in plain English

We ask for as little as we can, we use it to plan and run your trip, and we do not sell it to anybody. This page sets out exactly what we collect, who we have to share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect

Your contact details, your travel plans, and anything you tell us you need on the trip.

Card details

Never stored here. ABA PayWay takes payments on its own secure page.

Selling your data

We never do it, and never pass it on for anyone else’s marketing.

Your rights

Ask us for a copy, a correction or a deletion, at info@aboutcambodiatravel.com.

The sections below are the policy in full. Payment and cancellation rules are in the booking terms, which is a separate document.

12. Changes to this policy

1. Who we are

This website is run by About Cambodia Travel & Tours, a travel agency registered in Cambodia, at Angkor Pets Road, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia. Our name and logo are a registered trademark with the Ministry of Commerce (KH/88844/22).

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean About Cambodia Travel & Tours, and “you” means anyone who uses this website or books with us. If you have any question about this policy, or want us to do something with your information, email info@aboutcambodiatravel.com or write to the address above.

2. What we collect, and when

When you send an enquiry or make a booking. Your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, your country, the hotel or place we should collect you from, your travel dates, how many people are travelling and their ages, and anything you write in the message box, such as dietary needs or accessibility requirements.

When you pay. We never see or store your card details. Card payments are taken by ABA PayWay on its own secure page. What we keep is the transaction reference, the amount, the currency, the date and whether the payment succeeded.

When you email, call or message us. The content of those messages, so we can answer and keep a record of what was agreed.

When you use the chat assistant. What you type in it. See the separate section below, because that conversation is answered by an outside service.

Automatically, as you browse. Standard server records: the pages you requested, the date and time, your browser type, and your IP address. In our booking records, the IP address is stored only as a one-way hash, which lets us spot repeated abuse without keeping the address itself.

We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health or religious details, except where you choose to tell us something we need in order to look after you on the trip — a food allergy, for example, or help with mobility.

3. Why we use it

We use your information only for the reasons you would expect:

To answer your enquiry and prepare a quotation or an itinerary
To make the bookings your trip needs — hotels, guides, drivers, boats, flights and entrance tickets
To take payment and issue invoices and receipts
To contact you before and during your trip, and to deal with anything that changes
To keep the accounting and tax records the law requires of us
To protect the website and its forms from spam and abuse

We do not sell your information to anybody, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. We only send you marketing email if you have asked us to, and every such email has an unsubscribe link.

4. Who we share it with

The suppliers your trip needs. To run your tour we have to pass your name, and sometimes your passport details, travel dates and any requirement you have told us about, to the hotels, guides, drivers, boat and transport operators, airlines and ticket offices involved in your booking. They are given only what they need.

ABA PayWay, the Cambodian bank service that processes card payments.

Our email provider, which delivers the messages we send you.

Our website host and Cloudflare, which serve and protect this site.

The AI provider that answers the chat assistant, as described below.

Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it — for example tax records, or a lawful request from a competent authority.

Because you are travelling to Cambodia and often booking from another country, these transfers can cross borders. Some of the services above are outside Cambodia, and your information will be handled under the law of the country where that service operates.

5. The chat assistant

The “ask about tours” chat on this website is answered by an outside AI service, which is why it can reply in seconds. When you send a message, that message and the conversation it belongs to are sent to that provider so it can produce an answer. Today that provider is OpenAI; if we change it, this page will say so.

We do not keep the conversation in our database, and we do not use it to build a profile of you. The provider handles it under its own terms and privacy policy.

Please do not type passport numbers, card details, passwords or anything else sensitive into the chat. If you need to give us something like that, send it in an enquiry or an email instead.

6. Cookies and similar technology

This site sets very little. WordPress, which runs it, uses cookies to keep you logged in if you have an account here, and to remember a form you are in the middle of filling in. Those are necessary for the site to work.

The reviews page shows live review panels published by Tripadvisor and TourRadar. Those panels come from the platforms themselves and set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies, once the panel loads.

We do not run advertising trackers or a Facebook pixel. If we add website analytics later, this page will be updated first, and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones may stop forms working properly.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept only while they are useful for following up, and then deleted.

Booking records, invoices and payment records are kept for as long as we are required to keep accounting and tax records under Cambodian law, and for as long as a claim relating to the trip could still be made.

Server and security logs are kept for a short period, normally counted in weeks, and then overwritten.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it.

8. Keeping it safe

The whole website runs over an encrypted connection. Access to booking records is limited to the people in our office who need it, each with their own account. Card details never reach our systems. IP addresses in booking records are hashed rather than stored.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that data sent over the internet is completely safe in transit. If a breach affects your information and creates a real risk to you, we will tell you and the relevant authority as quickly as we can.

9. Your choices and your rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy
correct anything that is wrong or out of date
delete information we no longer need to keep
stop sending you marketing email, at any time
stop using your information in a particular way, where you object to it

Email info@aboutcambodiatravel.com and tell us what you would like. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, so that we do not give your information to somebody else.

Some information we cannot delete on request: records we are required by law to keep, and records we need in order to defend a legal claim. If that applies we will tell you which, and why.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union and you believe we have handled your information wrongly, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you came to us first, so we can put it right.

10. Children

This website is meant for adults, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child directly. Children travel with us often, and the details we hold about a child on a booking are given to us by the adult making it. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent knowing, tell us and we will delete it.

11. Other websites

Our pages link to other sites, such as Tripadvisor, TourRadar, our social media profiles, and the official Cambodian e-visa and Angkor ticketing services. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information; read their own policies before you use them.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date below. If a change is significant and affects a booking you have already made, we will tell you about it directly.
